Abt JTA Asia Pacific, in partnership with the Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN has been tasked with coordinating primary and preventive healthcare for the region, which starts as far south as the Glasshouse Mountains and stretches along to coast to Yeppoon; west beyond Emerald, encompassing Rockhampton, Gladstone , Bundaberg and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The area totals 161,000 square kilometers, and is home to 835,000 people, many of whom live in widely dispersed regional and rural communities.

The key role of the PHN is to identify where there are areas of need, such as lack of health care services, barriers to accessing these services, or regions with particularly high health needs, and work closely with GPs, allied health care providers, hospitals and the broader community to commission effective health services to meet the needs of the community.

Abt JTA Asia Pacific manages the population health planning, monitoring and evaluation and research activities of the Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN.
